Meet the maker - Tori from Fieldstone Turnery

Makers and artisans hold a special place in my heart. It's been wonderful to have my subscription box to showcase some of their pieces, and introduce everyone to them. Tori is no exception with her beautifully turned wooden items. For my winter subscription box, I included her adorable turned Christmas tree ornament, and wanted to share a little bit more about Tori the maker here. Read on to learn more!

Q: Tell me a bit about what you do?

A: I use a wood lathe to hand turn houseware pieces out of wood. My wood shop is currently being set up in the basement of our 1830’s stone farmhouse. I love creating in my home, it’s where I find most of my inspiration!

Q: How long have you been doing it?

A: I started wood turning about 3 years ago but have been able to spend more time turning this past year.

Q: What’s your morning routine like?

A: As a mom of four it’s chaotic, ha! But I love it.  Q: What’s your favourite thing in your studio?

A: Definitely my wood lathe!

Q: Keys to productivity?

A: There’s a lot that comes to my mind when I think about this question. Im not always productive but something that motivates me is being inspired. Inspiration along with lists, schedules and all the other things.  Q: Favourite form of movement or exercise?

A: Any sport! I definitely have a competitive side.

Q: Song currently on repeat?

A: I’m a old country music fan, not so much a song on repeat but a playlist. Q: Guilty pleasure?

A: Candy, I love sweets. Q: What’s one thing you’re willing to spend more money on?

A: Wood turning tools. I’m still working on getting my shop all set up with the the proper equipment and tools.  Q: Any supplements you take/ daily elixers etc?

A: wood shavings (lol)

Q: Favourite recipe to make?

A: Focaccia, with a pot of soup. There’s nothing like the smell of fresh bread.  Q: Favourite room in your home? A: Kitchen/dining room. It’s where all the action happens and it’s where the fireplace is so it’s cozy. Q: Favourite tool in your work/home life? A: That’s a tough choice, I have lots of favourites. Probably my spindle gouge which I use the most when wood turning right now. Q: Favourite local (to you) thing to do or visit?

A: Downtown Galt, Cambridge. Especially when it’s all dressed up for Christmas

Thank you for sharing Tori!

We look forward to carrying some of Tori's beautiful wares in the future.
